Fiat Twin-Air Bi-Fuel
Launched at 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Progenitor of a new family of two-cylinder engines, the Twin-Air implements a revolutionary MultiAir system combined with specific fluid dynamics optimised for the best fuel efficiency, cutting CO2 emissions by up to 30%, and is said to be the only two-cylinder engine currently available in a car in Europe. [as at 5 March 2010] The 900cc engine family will feature one naturally-aspirated and two turbo-charged versions, developing 50kW, 65kW and 78kW respectively. The 65kW Twin-Air engine will be used in the 2010 Fiat 500, offering 25 percent more power and 15 percent less fuel consumption than the current 1.2 litre engine. Limited information to date says the Fiat 500 equipped with Twin-Air will produce less than 100 gms/km CO2.
