The mono-fuel CNG Scarab Merlin, known in France as the Major, has been mounted onto a Renault Midlum chassis that was converted to CNG by PVI in France (a subsidiary of Renault) for the sweeper application. The Merlin/Major is powered by a CUMMINS WESTPORT type B Gas Plus 6-cylinder engine, supercharged by turbo-compressor with cooling intake air ignition system with electronic control module and ignition module (ICM), management of engine sensor and electronic control module (ECM) including making a diagnosis.
Maximum power 172 kilowatts at 2800 rpm, Max torque 678 Nm at 1600 rpm.
Four steel tanks with a total capacity of 80 m3, 200 bar (equivalent volume of water: 400 liters); gasoline energy equivalent approximately 80 liters.
